Another sleepless night,
as my oppressor rings,
cling- cling- clang-
I must resist the sound,
and break free of these shackles
that shriek as I try for hope-
it’s like running from myself,
but no longer can I ignore, this misery
that appears in all thoughts,
like dark clouds over mountain tops,
my every move is cloaked.
Freedom is a mile away
but it’s a risk that I must take;
tonight is opportune
to flee from what I know.
